Corporate display for trade show. Another designer had started this project, developing a concept and a few sketches. After the sudden and unexplained departure of the first designer, I was given only three weeks to complete the design and construction drawings, find a scenery shop to build it, and oversee the construction. Once the drawings, budget, and schedule was developed, it became obvious that the project could not be completed in the remaining time due to the late start and the slowed delivery schedule due to the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. |
The concept developed by the first designer was a cubic space to resemble a plastic garage tool tote. It was left to me to space plan the exhibit, develop working construction drawings, design the details, and actually make it work as a modular structure that could adapt to various size convention spaces and be safe and in compliance with regulations. I had located most of the materials and solved most of the problems within one week - Thanksgiving week. This left only two weeks and most of the suppliers required two to four weeks to deliver the parts for final completion.
